If you did not receive a passing grade on your Straight Photography quiz, you will need to write a 1 page summary on Straight Photography. Follow this structure for a 3 paragraph report:

• Explain the Straight Photography movement. When did it happen? Why did it happen? Who were the main photographers that drove the Straight Photography movement?

• What are the visual characteristics of “Straight” photographs? – How did this differ from the Pictorialists and the Photosecessionists?

• Choose one photographer widely regarded as a Straight photographer from this era. What did they help to achieve for the movement? What are they important to the movement? Give us a brief biography of their life – focusing on the time frame we are discussing. Choose 3 of their images and analyse them in terms of the characteristics of straight photography.
